We are seeking an experienced Cargo Business Development Consultant to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the aviation industry, target-driven, goal-oriented, and have sales experience with a background in cargo.
Purpose of the Role
- Proactively identify, target, and secure business opportunities for our products in the country.
- Maximize business opportunities by offering tailored solutions to meet client requirements within budgetary and operational constraints while ensuring profitability.
- Manage a portfolio of clients and actively develop new business through initiatives such as following up on leads, client recommendations, and networking.
- Create awareness of CF GSA and cargo charter products and services to acquire new regular business.
- Support the growth of our products across the country by collaborating with brokers and the IMEA leadership team.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Execute sales strategies and implement related business objectives nationwide.
- Develop country-specific plans with broker teams aligned with sales strategies and maintain relationships with existing and new clients and suppliers.
- Monitor progress monthly against sales targets and report bi-monthly to the Country Manager – South Africa, highlighting issues and recommending actions.
- Identify opportunities to grow the business in new and existing markets.
- Use initiative to explore new business development areas.
- Stay updated on competitor activity to identify opportunities.
- Partner with local broker departments by providing relevant information and supporting the brokering process.
- Visit potential, new, and existing customers to generate business.
- Maintain and develop relationships with key clients and new leads to maximize opportunities and client loyalty.
- Generate sales activity for all products across regional and local customers/freight forwarders.
- Continuously seek new operators/suppliers to build relationships and increase active clients.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience within cargo.
- Knowledge of the local Africa market.
- Team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building, account management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to balance client needs with business objectives.
