Job description

Hans Mahrt and Company, a solutionist recruitment consultancy, is looking to fill the role of Business Development Consultant for a blue chip insurance company in South Africa.

About the Role

As a Business Development Consultant, you will be responsible for sourcing new business through pro-active new business generation activities, which include Lead Generation, networking, relationship building with internal and external stakeholders, and other means of generating new business for the company.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, someone who uses initiative to find new clients and go above and beyond.

You will be required to source your own clients and build a network of referral agents to provide you with a continuous source of potential clients.

Requirements

  1. Matric / Grade 12
  2. FAIS Credits (min 30 credits in short term insurance if date of first appointment is before 2010); or if date of first appointment is on or after 01 / 01 / 2010, a full recognised qualification as per the FSCA qualification list
  3. FAIS Regulatory examination for Representatives (RE5)
  4. Minimum of 3 years' experience in selling short term insurance either as a broker agent or tied agent
  5. All required regulatory exams and accreditation
  6. Candidate must have his own transport (CAR) and drivers license

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Source sufficient lead generating opportunities to ensure 10 client quotes per week and 40 per month minimum
  2. Minimum requirement of 9 written policies per month
  3. Maintain and update CRM
  4. Once a quote is requested, the consultant must contact the client in order to conduct a proper needs analysis and offer professional advice
  5. Complete weekly reports that reflect leads, quotes and sales as well as the source of the leads, average premium, total premium, and any other pertinent information which may be required from time to time
  6. Keep up to date and fully informed on product comparisons with opposition products
  7. Stay abreast of product changes and enhancements
  8. Be compliant in all activities in accordance with regulations and standards of all Insurance regulations and professional guidelines and ethics
  9. Maintain appropriate skills and knowledge in order to provide specialist, professional advice in all relevant business areas
  10. Maintain the required dress code and professional appearance
