Business Development Consultant – Short-Term Insurance

Location: Bellville, Western Cape
Work Model: Hybrid (Remote flexibility available)
Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Salary: R10 000 – R15 000 basic + Pension Allowance + Medical Aid

About the Role

Hans Mahrt & Company is recruiting an experienced Business Development Consultant for a respected client in the short-term insurance industry. This role focuses on acquiring and developing business within the affluent market segment, specialising in motor and household insurance solutions.

We’re looking for a self-motivated, results-driven professional with a strong sales background who excels in client relationship management and can deliver high-quality, personalised insurance offerings.



Key Responsibilities
• Acquire and manage new business opportunities within the affluent market
• Source and qualify at least 10 new leads weekly (minimum 40 monthly)
• Achieve monthly sales targets (minimum 8.5 written policies)
• Build and maintain a network of at least 5 active referral agents
• Conduct in-depth financial needs analyses and provide customised proposals
• Ensure compliance with FAIS and industry regulations
• Maintain accurate records and submit weekly performance reports
• Stay up to date on industry trends and competitor products



Minimum Requirements
• Matric / Grade 12 (compulsory)
• RE5 certification (essential)
• Short-Term Insurance Certificate or Wealth Management qualification (preferred)
• 3+ years’ experience in short-term insurance sales
• Demonstrated ability to consistently meet/exceed targets
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
• CRM experience is advantageous
