The Business Development Associate will assist in leading the development and growth of profitable new business in the diverse Energy market, along with developing and maintaining key business relationships.
The role will interact closely with internal and external stakeholders, managing opportunities from initiation to commercial approval through project management, technical, and commercial skills.
The Business Development Associate will support the Group in exploring new markets, research development, project management, and client relationship management as required. The role will report directly to the Business Development Specialist.

- Opportunity Development: Support in planning, market analysis, and identification of opportunities for new activities or expansion of current initiatives. Promote the company's products and services to new and existing clients. Clarify client needs to inform solutions development. Prepare due diligence for new opportunities. Coordinate with internal teams. Support negotiation of partnership agreements and contracts. Support transition from client acquisition to project delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and manage relationships with key partners across sectors. Communicate the business profile and offerings. Manage existing customer relationships to ensure profitability. Build relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and academic institutions. Represent the company at industry events and cultivate new partners.
- Market and Research Analysis: Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and industry developments. Analyze trends and funding sources.
- Finance and Revenue Generation: Assist in budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring performance. Support profit centers in securing project and corporate financing. Support closing new deals and negotiations.
- Strategy, Processes & Administration: Support business development planning, forecasting, and reporting. Maintain operational processes and administrative functions.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a learning environment and support team deliverables.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to regulatory, ESG, and business requirements. Stay updated on relevant developments.
- Community Development: Assist in designing and implementing community programs. Monitor progress to meet objectives.
Areas of Focus
The role involves work in strategic areas such as renewable energy projects, energy storage, energy trading, community projects, skills development, infrastructure grants, carbon markets, power generation technologies, and sustainable technologies.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields; postgraduate qualification beneficial.
- 2-5 years' experience in infrastructure, finance, or property development environments.
- Experience in sourcing and managing new business opportunities.
- Research, market analysis, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
