Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Business Applications Solutions Architect to lead and support the architecture of business applications both in Umhlanga and remotely. This role involves critical tasks such as supporting data-driven decision-making and designing solutions utilizing Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server. The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience, a B Comm or relevant qualification, and proficiency in architecture design and stakeholder management.

Job description

Job Title : Business Applications Solutions Architect

Location : Umhlanga and remote from home (hybrid)

Reports To : ERP Technical Lead

Contract term : initial 6 months (may be renewed)

Travel : Hybrid (limited travel as needed)

Rate : R1000 p / h

About the Role :

• Proactively and holistically leads and supports Solution Architecture activities that guide the development and management of business applications
• Provides the necessary leadership analysis and design tasks related to supporting the development of technology solutions
• Support datadriven decisionmaking through architecture of BI / reporting tools such as Power BI and backend systems like Microsoft SQL Server.
• Provide expertlevel support for businesscritical applications with a focus on HSE systems including health and safety management environmental monitoring and compliance tracking

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities :

Interpret Business Needs and Develop and Maintain Business Applications IT Strategy

• Translate business & technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives & documents all solution architecture design & analysis work
• Develop and articulate a clear technical vision for application solutions aligning with the companys technology roadmap and architectural principles
• Serve as a Liaison between the Business Solution Architects and the AMS Functional teams.
• Works closely with other solution owners and managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business applications and catalog requirements throughout the product lifecycle

Application design and solution delivery

• Analyse and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple platforms ensuring high availability and performance of applications.
• Provide expertlevel support for businesscritical applications with a focus on HSE systems including health and safety management environmental monitoring and compliance tracking
• Support the migration of business applications to cloud
• Support the Jivs archiving system

Assess Technology Solutions and ITSC

• Support solution and service managers in endoflife product decisions to maintain refresh or retire services or systems including applications technologies processes and information
• Understand emerging technology trends and disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving applications and operating models (stretch).
• Analyse the technology industry competitors and market trends and determine their potential implications for a given solution (stretch)
• Analyse the ApplicationsIT environment to detect critical deficiencies legacy and technical debt and recommend solutions for improvement (stretch)
• Act as a consultant and advisor to the Functions and Solution Delivery on a broad range ofdevelopment technologies platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
• Take accountability for ensuring solution implementations and changes deliver business requirements.

Key Performance Indicators

• Integrated Technical management and controls
• Technical and audit controls applied with 90% audit compliance 0 high priority findings
• Current state architecture documentation vendor assessment for RFPs contribution to cost / benefit analysis contributions to proofofconcept implementation(stretch)

Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements :

• B Comm or relevant tertiary qualification
• 10 years of supporting business applications
• Knowledge of Power BI and data analysis
• Handson experience with Microsoft SQL Power BI and data visualisation tools
• Experience working with HSE applications and systems including health and safety management environmental monitoring and compliance tracking
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills with the ability to translate complexity to simplicity
