Job summary

Discovery Limited in Sandton is seeking a Business Analyst to join Discovery Life's Business Solutions team. You will gather and document requirements for the Quoting and New Business application journey, translating actuarial specs into functional needs.

Collaborate with stakeholders and UX designers to define UI rules, review test plans, and contribute to process improvements; a degree in BA and 3–4 years of experience are expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analysis of requirements and translate them into Business/Functional specifications for systems development.
• Facilitate interviews and information gathering sessions with stakeholders and present solutions.
• Compile Business/Functional Requirements Specifications including UX screens for quoting applications.
• Define business rules/validations/field functionality for the UI and craft user-friendly error wording.
• Assist in producing quote reports and review test plans during UAT.
• Identify gaps, trends and opportunities for process improvements.
• Lead JAD sessions and coordinate sign-off of business requirements documents.

About Business Solutions

The Business Solutions team consist of a team of Business Analysts whose primary function is to look after Discovery Life’s quoting and application submission systems.

Key Purpose

The primary function of this role is to gather, analyse and document business requirements for Discovery Life’s web-based Quoting and New Business application submission journey.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

• Conduct analysis of the Actuarial Product specs and translate the requirements into Business or Functional requirements needed for Systems development.
• Facilitate interviews and information gathering sessions with stakeholders and present the solutions.
• Compile the Business/Functional Requirements Specifications which includes, but is not limited to:
• Working with the UX Designer to create the screens needed for the quoting application.
• Defining the business rules/validations/field functionality for the User Interface.
• Compiling user-friendly error message wording.
• Assist the Business Analyst responsible for compiling the Business requirements needed to produce the quote reports.
• Conduct root cause analysis and investigation of production defects and propose a solution.
• Review Test plans and assist the Testing Team during the User Acceptance testing phase.
• Identify gaps, trends and process improvement opportunities.
• Conduct Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with stakeholders and present solutions for Business process improvement and Systems enhancement initiatives.
• Collaborate, negotiate and co-ordinate with various stakeholders to produce and obtain sign off of Business requirements documents.

Education and Experience

• Matric
• IT Degree or Diploma in Business Analysis or a related field from an accredited institution
• At least 3 – 4 years of working experience as a Business Analyst

Advantageous

• Recognised Diploma/NQF 6 or higher qualification in Business Analysis
• Minimum 2 years Business Analysis experience, within the Financial Insurance Industry
