Business Analyst (Data Science and ML Focus)

Location: George, Western Cape | Full-time

Are you passionate about translating complex machine learning insights into meaningful business decisions? At Badger Holdings SA, we’re looking for a forward-thinking Business Analyst with a focus on Data Science and Machine Learning (ML) to help bridge the gap between our data science teams and business operations.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the key liaison between data science teams and various business units.
• Gather, define, and document both technical and business requirements for ML initiatives.
• Evaluate and report on the performance and impact of ML models on the business.
• Communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, compelling way.
• Ensure that operational teams understand and make the most of ML outputs.
• Design intuitive dashboards and reporting tools to track model KPIs and outcomes.
  
  

What You Bring

Essential qualifications and skills:

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science.
• Strong capability to interpret model outputs and distill them into actionable business strategies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Solid understanding of data-driven decision-making.
• Experience in requirements gathering for data or ML projects.
• Ability to assess and articulate business value derived from ML solutions.
  
  

Preferred (not mandatory):

• Background in the insurance or financial services sector.
• Hands-on experience working with analytics or data science teams.
• Exposure to ML concepts and lifecycle.
• Familiarity with BI tools (e.g. power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
• Technical exposure to Python, R, SQL, or cloud platforms like Snowflake
