Job Description

The Business Analyst will support a broad portfolio of business, regulatory, operational and digital initiatives across Old Mutual International. A key focus of the role will be the analysis, design and enhancement of online tools and digital journeys, translating business, customer and regulatory needs into clear, practical requirements that support an effective user experience and business outcome.

Working closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and subject matter experts, the Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, analysing processes and data flows, supporting solution design, and ensuring that technology solutions align with business objectives, operational requirements and regulatory obligations.

The role requires the ability to understand how information moves through systems, map requirements to data flows and downstream reporting needs, and assess the impact of change across processes, systems and customer journeys. While digital and online initiatives form an important part of the role, the Business Analyst will also contribute across a diverse range of business transformation, regulatory, operational improvement and product-related projects as required.

Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:

Requirements Management

Plan and coordinate the identification and elicitation of requirements; conduct analysis of those requirements for completion and alignment. Document and manage requirements throughout the life of the project; and coordinate the verification of the end deliverable. Generally done at the project level.

Digital Solutions and User Experience

Support the design, enhancement and delivery of online tools, digital journeys and business solutions that meet customer, adviser and business needs. Define and document business, functional, data and user requirements, ensuring solutions are intuitive, effective and aligned to business objectives. Translate requirements into user stories, process flows, wireframe requirements, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation where appropriate. Work collaboratively with business, technology, product and user experience stakeholders to support solution design and delivery. Contribute to a broad range of business, operational, regulatory and digital initiatives across the organisation as priorities evolve.

Data Collection and Analysis

Make authoritative recommendations that have a significant impact on the business over the short and long term. Recommendations could be technical or professional in nature.

Database Specifications

Approve database specifications, ensuring all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved.

Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be"

Document the most complex "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.

Business Requirements Identification

Elicit complex business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.

Feasibility Studies

Conduct feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.

Horizon Scanning

Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.

Enterprise Business Analysis

Interpret the business need and identify solution recommendations to business problems at a business unit level. Lead the improvement efforts that are within span of control at this level.

Business Case

Develop straightforward business cases or lead feasibility and assessment work for proposed and current projects to support the development and continuous review of business cases.

Documentation and Backup

Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.

Culture of Innovation

Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business units,such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.

Personal Capability Building

Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
