Job description

Wilfour, a Short term insurance Broker based in Randburg, is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented broker's assistant to manage the portfolio of existing clients through proactive underwriting and administrative support. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 - 5 years experience, preferably within a brokerage environment, and be proficient in handling both personal and commercial lines insurance.

This role is office-based.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Maintain existing short term insurance book, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Proactive communication with clients to understand their insurance needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  3. Provide expert advice on insurance products and services.
  4. General underwriting duties, including risk assessments.
  5. Source and compare quotes from multiple insurance providers when necessary to provide quotes for new business as well as existing clients.
  6. Analyze risks associated with insurance applications and make informed decisions.
  7. Process policy endorsements, including changes in cover, asset details, or client information.
  8. Maintain precise records and ensure it is compliant with underwriting guidelines.
  9. Independently manage the underwriting process with minimal supervision.
  10. Registration and follow up on claims.
  11. Manage policy renewals, ensuring policies are reviewed, updated, and renewed in a timely manner.
  12. Monitor and manage unpaid premiums, timely follow-ups and resolution.
  13. Prepare and present reports and documentation.
Requirements
  1. Matric (Grade 12) certificate
  2. RE5 certification (compulsory)
  3. Compliance with FAIS Fit & Proper criteria i.e. minimum experience and competency requirements.
  4. Clear criminal and credit record
  5. Good knowledge of the short-term insurance industry, the legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  6. Experience in both personal and commercial lines underwriting, minimum 3 to 5 years experience
  7. Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (read, write and speak)
  8. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, administrative, and communication skills
  9. Computer literate
  10. Ability to work independently without supervision.
  11. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  12. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  13. Must have own reliable transport.
