Job description

Job Location : Gauteng, Johannesburg
Deadline : May 09, 2025

Key Areas of Impact :

  1. Deliver performance targets for portfolio across all target brands
  2. Ongoing market and industry analysis to provide recommendations for brand development
  3. Ongoing review of portfolio activity effectiveness to update or change plans as required
  4. Budgeting & forecasting

Deliver local portfolio and brand strategy

  1. Insights from pulling together existing research, market trends (global & local), competitors and internal data
  2. SWOT analysis
  3. Conduct consumer and market research in order to keep up to date with consumer trends, as well as trying to predict future trends
  4. Portfolio positioning – Identify how our brand is positioned in the market
  5. Develop brand plans / brand strategy for profitable company growth
  6. Development of 3-year portfolio strategy

Deliver consumer communication strategy

  1. Define and manage brand positioning and communication strategy using a variety of media
  2. Prepare / Review all promotional, advertising, media, research and R&D briefs
  3. Participate in media strategy process, agreement & delivery of plans
  4. Develop and execute marketing campaigns aimed at communicating our brand message
  5. Maintain relationships (both internal and external partners)
  6. Monitor communication / promotional spend

Management of all New Product Development projects

  1. Development of commercial rational and justification
  2. Project management of all new product development projects
  3. Work with Research and Development (R&D) team and technical team to convert innovative business ideas into saleable products
  4. Implement launch and launch support plan
  5. Participate in monthly marketing & NPD meetings

What It Takes to Succeed :

Experience that set you up for success :

  1. A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Brand Manager gained in an FMCG environment is essential
  2. Knowledge of IRI / Nielsen data experience required

Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success :

  1. A completed commercial degree majoring in Marketing, Business Management, Finance or similar is essential

Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success :

  1. Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint
  2. SAP knowledge is advantageous
  3. Strong focus on analytical skills (turning data into actionable insights)
  4. Knowledge of consumer, trader, customer, and shopper insights
  5. Knowledge of the NPD process
  6. Advertising experience from briefing to execution
