Job summary

Takealot Fulfilment Solutions (TFS) is seeking a Fleet Operations Supervisor to oversee delivery driver operations, dispatch oversight, and KPI reporting while upholding safety and SOPs.

Reporting to the Hub Manager, you will drive staffing, resolve issues, and maintain vehicle and asset conditions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Matric certificate is required or equivalent.
  • Certificate/qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics or Fleet Management is advantageous.
  • Experience in fleet control or supervisory roles preferred.

  • Oversee delivery drivers' operations for timeliness, efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage drivers and dispatch systems to optimise delivery and reporting.

This position reports to the Hub Manager
Purpose of this role :
  • Oversee the timely, efficient, and effective operations ofdelivery drivers
  • Manage drivers and delivery systems to optimizeperformance and reporting
  • Ensure smooth communication and information flowrelated to parcel loading, delivery, and system issues
  • Ensure adequate staffing and efficient deployment fordaily operations
  • Uphold operational standards, resolve delivery queries,and manage returned goods
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and companypolicies
  • Maintain vehicles, equipment, and company assets
  • Promote company culture and manage staff performance and discipline
Your responsibilities can include:
  • It’s primary objectives therefore centres on timelines,efficiency and effectiveness of Drivers
  • Managing the drivers and various systems to optimizedelivery and reporting
  • Ensuring that all reporting relating to various vehicles,last Mile and driving staff is done promptly, accuratelyand effectively
  • Ensuring that the relevant chain of command is updatedas soon as possible with any and all relevant informationpertaining to the loading and delivery of parcels as wellas any system issues encountered
  • Ensuring that adequate staff are present and on duty forthe daily tasks
  • Ensuring that staff are efficiently tasked and effectivelydeployed
  • Ensuring that all operational imperatives are beingupheld and that any current or potential blockers areraised quickly and effectively to the correct people
  • Ensuring returned goods are collected from Customersand returned to the Returns Department with the correctpaperwork
  • Ensuring that all queries relating to drivers anddeliveries are quickly and effectively resolved
  • Ensure that all Drivers sent onto the road have validDrivers’ Licences and PDP’s
  • Ensure that admin staff have access to all relevant dataand detail regarding deliveries, staff clocking times,leave etc.
  • Ensuring that any changes to deliveries that need to beaffected by customers are done as soon as possible, asefficiently as possible with the relevant parties beinginformed along the way. The system needs to beupdated appropriately as well
  • Ensure that all driving staff are compliant with allrelevant safety and security standards and procedures;as prescribed by the company, as well as all othermeasures detailed in the Driver’s job description andany other ancillary communication as given from time totim
  • Ensure that all drivers and assistants are correctlydressed in all PPE issued
  • Ensure that proper staff leave planning and submissionsare done; in line with operational necessities and anyother parameters as prescribed by the company
  • Ensure that all vehicles, hardware and/or equipment ismaintained and looked after and is in good workingorder. Any deficiencies, need to be reported and investigated immediately.
  • Ensure that all due diligence is done in order to ensurethe safety of all parcels and equipment within thewarehouse area, on the road
  • Ensure that all loss of company assets and stock isminimized and that all missing items are afforded theappropriate diligence, in terms of tracing and finding
  • Ensure that reports as requested by management aresubmitted timeously
  • Ensure the Various systems are in line with the dailydeliveries e.g. Branch Dashboard & Driver Dashboard
  • Develop and implement effective and efficient workprocesses and procedures complying with SOP
  • Supervise, coach and develop team
  • Implement discipline management and performancemanagement of staff up to the first written warningstage, when necessary
  • Driving and promoting the company culture from within,over and above the rules and standards set out invarious documents; thus, ensuring a workforce that iscommitted to excellence and success.
Inbound Operations
  • Oversee receiving, scanning, and verification of stockagainst documentation
  • Ensure consolidation of multiple pieces within the multi-grid system for order completeness
  • Ensure complete orders are staged accurately indesignated sort areas
  • Monitor and control receiving discrepancies, damages, and stock integrity
  • Ensure all damaged items are escalated timeously viaZendesk
  • Maintain accurate system updates and binningprocesses
  • Ensure efficient dock-to-stock turnaround times
Outbound Operations
  • Oversee preparation of stock for book-out in line withdispatch requirements
  • Ensure accurate booking out of stock according to driverroutes
  • Supervise loading of vehicles, including large vehicles, ensuring correct allocation
  • Ensure all parcels are correctly scanned and assignedbefore dispatch
  • Drive completion of book-out processes by 06:00 to meet dispatch timelines
  • Monitor dispatch accuracy, delivery readiness, and failrate control
Qualifications and experience:
  • Matric certificate
  • Certificate or qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, FleetManagement, or similar (advantageous)
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in fleet control or similar supervisoryroles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of routes and geography
  • Competent in computer use and common software
  • Administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Clean driving and criminal record
  • Sober habits and willingness to work overtime asrequired
