Branch Consultant/Financial Advisor - Vredenburg

Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited, is a leading financial services provider in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. We focus on understanding our clients' needs and offering simple, affordable financial solutions such as funeral insurance, education savings, life cover, and personal accident plans. SDM operates under the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster within Sanlam Life and Savings, focusing on retail products and group schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products and increase market share by:
  • Providing sound financial advice and high-quality client service in a branch setting.
  • Creating opportunities for client optimization and cross-selling value-added services.
  • Understand SRM product ranges and client needs to recommend suitable products that meet their financial goals affordably.
  • Update clients about new or changed products and manage their portfolios accordingly.
  • Validate client details per regulatory requirements and submit new business through appropriate channels.
  • Conduct client due diligence to identify and flag risks.
  • Manage daily appointments and client interactions effectively, including walk-ins.
  • In-branch Client Service and Retention

    1. Manage and service all client profiles to ensure retention, including sending reminders, follow-ups, and addressing queries.
    2. Report on NTUs (clients Not Taken Up), implement controls, and take corrective actions.
    3. Maintain persistency of client payments and support clients with risk profiles and alternative payment arrangements.
    4. Provide in-branch service aligned with experience standards, guiding clients through policy cancellations and resolving queries or escalating as needed.

    Quality, Compliance, and Development

    1. Adhere to compliance and quality standards, keep CPD points up-to-date, and identify risks or fraudulent activities.
    2. Maintain records of advice and log activities per regulations for reporting.

    Monthly Planning and Reporting

    1. Report daily activities using relevant platforms and collate data for weekly and monthly reports.
    2. Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Retail Branch Manager.
    Qualifications
    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • RE5 advantageous
    • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements
    • Class of Business training to be completed within 12 months of employment
