Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM](a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is a leading financial services provider in South Africa's entry-level and emerging middle market. We understand the unique needs of our clients and offer a range of simple, affordable financial solutions including funeral insurance, education savings, life cover, and personal accident plans. SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster within the Sanlam Group, focusing on retail products and group schemes.

Purpose of the Role

  • Promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products and increase market share by:
  • Providing sound financial advice and high-quality client service in a branch setting.
  • Creating opportunities for client optimization and cross-selling of value-added services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales Delivery
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of SRM product ranges.
  • Understand customer needs, goals, and financial means to recommend suitable products.
  • Update clients on new or changed products and manage portfolio implications.
  • Validate client details per regulatory standards and submit new business through appropriate channels.
  • Conduct client due diligence to identify risks.
  • Manage own schedule to prioritize appointments and accommodate walk-in clients.
  1. In-branch Client Service and Retention
  • Service and manage all client profiles to ensure retention.
  • Follow up with clients, send reminders, and support queries.
  • Monitor and report on NTUs, implementing controls and corrective actions.
  • Manage payment persistency for clients and the branch.
  • Assess client risk profiles and support with alternative payment plans.
  • Handle client queries and cancellations, escalating as necessary, and provide continuous feedback.
  1. Quality, Compliance, and Development
  • Stay updated with compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain registration, product knowledge, and CPD points.
  • Identify risks and flag potential fraud.
  • Keep records of advice and activities as per regulations.
  1. Monthly Planning and Reporting
  • Report activities daily using relevant platforms.
  • Compile data for weekly and monthly reports.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Branch Manager.

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE5 advantageous
  • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) per DOFA requirements
  • Class of Business training (to be completed within 12 months of employment)
