Job description

Reference: NCM-KMa-1A JSE listed organisation requires the skills of a highly proficient Branch Accountant CA(SA) to be based in Illovo to process the records of account and prepare the monthly management accounts.

We require an innovative Degreed candidate with exceptional focus and drive to join our team with Sage / Accpac experience and advanced Excel capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the on-time submission of monthly management accounts in accordance with the financial reporting calendar.
  2. Analyse management accounts with explanations of all variances to the branch budgets.
  3. Ensure ledger accounts are properly analysed and supported by verifiable reconciliations and/or other schedules.
  4. Process sundry invoices related to services and recoveries not processed through payroll, including inter-branch and inter-company recoveries.
  5. Prepare journals with relevant supporting schedules and reasons.
  6. Ensure correct allocation of all transactions in the general ledger, including branch and ledger account accuracy.
  7. Raise accruals and provisions as required.
  8. Maintain the fixed asset register on Sage.
  9. Review trade creditor reconciliations for relevant branches.
  10. Contribute to annual budgets and reforecasts.
  11. Prepare VAT reconciliations.
  12. Provide relevant information to branch managers.
  13. Prepare reports for the Financial Director and management as needed.
  14. Support submissions for B-BBEE scorecard purposes.
  15. Ensure inter-company accounts are balanced.
  16. Conduct internal audits and verification processes as required.
  17. Prepare for annual audits, including audit packs and analytical reviews.
  18. Provide supporting documentation for auditors.
  19. Maintain record administration, filing, uploading, and retention of documents.
  20. Ensure system accuracy for Sage interface, including payroll information.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance / Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant financial reporting experience.
  • At least 3 years' articles experience at an audit firm.
  • 4 years' relevant accounting experience in management accounts preparation.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (non-negotiable).
  • Sage / Accpac working experience.
  • Ability to work after hours when required to meet deadlines.
