VACANCY NOTICE

POSITION: Bookseller (195 Hour)

REPORTING TO: Store Manager

STORE: Shop 28B Waterstone Village Shopping Centre, Somerset West, Western Cape

Purpose of the job:

As a bookseller, you will receive and unpack stock, categorize books, and merchandise stock for the customer. You will focus on customer service, ensuring the customer receives excellent service by meeting their needs. Building your book knowledge daily will help you establish strong relationships with customers and increase sales.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Customer Service: Offer assistance to every customer entering the store with a friendly and positive attitude.
  2. Housekeeping: Keep the store clean and tidy.
  3. Merchandising: Ensure all window and in-store displays are attractive and updated every two weeks. Check that bestsellers are in stock and on display.
  4. Stock Management: Assist the manager in measuring and controlling shrinkage.
  5. Security: Be alert and aware of shoplifters or non-shoppers.
  6. Book Knowledge: Continuously build your knowledge of the books in the store.
  7. Sales and Upselling: Develop relationships with potential customers, upsell, cross-sell, promote offers, and recommend alternative or related books and products.
  8. Sourcing and Ordering: Use lookup systems to source and order books for customers.
  9. Admin and Control: Handle cash-ups, credit card checks, wage payouts, shortage reports, supplier payouts, attendance, email communication, gift vouchers, etc.

Qualifications:

We seek an energetic, well-presented, and physically fit individual. A minimum of a matric qualification is required, preferably with retail or sales experience. Candidates with a marketing qualification, degree in English Literature, Communications, Journalism, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
