VACANCY NOTICE

POSITION: Bookseller (Hour)

REPORTING TO: Store Manager

STORE: Shop Mall Of Africa, Johannesburg, Gauteng

Purpose of the job :

As a bookseller, you will receive and unpack stock, categorize books, and merchandise stock for the customer.

You will focus on customer service, ensuring the customer receives excellent service by meeting their needs.

You will build your book knowledge daily to develop strong relationships with customers and increase sales.

Main Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Offer assistance to every customer entering the store with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Housekeeping: Keep the store clean and tidy.
  • Merchandising: Ensure all window displays and in-store displays are attractive and eye-catching, updated every two weeks.
  • Check that bestsellers are in stock and on display.
  • Stock Management: Assist the manager in measuring and controlling shrinkage.
  • Security: Be alert and aware of non-shopper/shoplifter activity.
  • Book Knowledge: Constantly build your knowledge of the books in the store.
  • Sales and Upselling: Build relationships with customers, upsell, cross-sell, and promote products.
  • Recommend substitutes and alternative books and other unique products.
  • Sourcing and ordering books for customers using lookup systems.
  • Admin and Control: Handle cashing up, credit card checks, wage payouts, shortage reports, supplier payouts, attendance, email communication, gift vouchers, etc.
Qualifications:

We seek an energetic, well-presented salesperson who is physically strong and healthy.

A minimum of a matric qualification is required, with retail or sales experience preferred.

Applicants with a marketing qualification, degree in English literature, Communications, Journalism, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

You will gain valuable skills in people management, merchandising, promotions, sales techniques, and industry knowledge.
