Job description

We’re looking for a Bookkeeper Team Leader to oversee and support our bookkeeping team.

This role ensures timely and accurate service delivery, maintains high-quality standards, and fosters a positive work environment. You'll also mentor team members, improve processes, and stay updated on industry regulations.

  • Lead, mentor, and support the bookkeeping team.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in bookkeeping tasks.
  • Identify training needs and encourage professional development.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Keep up to date with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Plan for business continuity and operational efficiency.
  • Handle other tasks as required.

Supervisory Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team.
  • Oversee daily operations and workflow.
  • Manage hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Education : Matric (strong in maths & accounting), BAcc or similar (or currently studying).
  • Experience : 1–2 years in a supervisory role within a bookkeeping practice, plus 3 years bookkeeping experience in an accounting practice.
  • Memberships : SAIPA or SAICA beneficial.

Software & Skills

  • Software : Xero, Draftworx, Dext, SimplePay, SARS systems, and practice management tools.
  • Skills : Attention to detail, problem-solving, time management, communication, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Languages : Proficiency in Afrikaans and English (reading, writing, speaking).

Working Conditions & Remuneration

  • Hybrid role (office-based & remote, depending on team needs).
  • Travel may be required occasionally.
  • Market-related remuneration.
