Job summary

A leading company in Gqeberha is seeking a skilled Bookkeeper/Personal Assistant to manage financial records and assist with payroll services. Job description

Bookkeeper / Personal Assistant required in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping/accounting
  • Xero Accounting software proficiency is essential
  • Experience with Point of Sales systems, preferably Odyssey
  • Solid understanding of payroll systems and statutory requirements (UIF, PAYE etc)
  • Strong computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel once a month
  • This position would suit an experienced, seasoned and older independent person
  • Problem-solver with hands-on attitude
  • Prior experience supporting an Owner-manged business or multi-entity environment

Key Performance Areas:

Bookkeeping/basic accounting (Xero-based):

  • Capture, process and reconcile all business transactions in Xero
  • Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with business and regulatory requirements
  • Daily cash-ups and reconciliation of cash/credit card transactions
  • Allocate bank payments and perform bank reconciliations
  • Generate and maintain monthly stock and sales reports

Payroll services:

  • Process salaries and wages, generate payslips and maintain payroll records
  • Reconcile deductions (SARS, UIF, PAYE) and submit statutory returns
  • Administer staff leave, overtime, advances, bonuses and changes to employee details
  • Manage direct payments to employees

Admin and Payroll Assistant support:

  • Schedule meetings, travel arrangements and event planning
  • Assist with stock management and perform monthly store visits for stock takes and reporting
  • Compile monthly business reports and summaries
  • General personal assistance to Owner/s, including ad-hoc admin tasks

Salary: R15 000 to R20 000 per month commensurate with qualification and experience and agreed hours.

Can be a half-day or full-day position, depending on hours and workload agreed upon. Start date: 1st June 2025.
