Bookkeeper

About the Opportunity
We're hiring a meticulous and proactive Bookkeeper to join our finance team and support day-to-day accounting operations across a growing portfolio of businesses.
You'll work closely with our Group Controller and CFO to manage financial records, support reporting and compliance, and help prepare for M&A activities and integrations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-integrity environments and is excited to work across multiple business units.
This is a remote role with preference for candidates with strong English communication skills and comfort working with U.S.-based teams.
What You'll Do
Bookkeeping & Reconciliations
- Maintain accurate books across multiple legal entities
- Enter and categorize transactions in QuickBooks or similar platforms
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor balances on a regular basis
- Track accounts payable and accounts receivable across the group
Financial Reporting- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process
- Prepare internal financial reports and variance analyses for leadership
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking in coordination with the Group Controller
Audit & Compliance- Maintain clean documentation and audit trails for all transactions
- Support internal audits, financial reviews, and due diligence requests
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOPs, and regulatory standards
M&A & Multi-Entity Integration- Assist in onboarding and integrating financials from new acquisitions
- Help standardize bookkeeping and reporting processes across business units
- Support documentation efforts during due diligence and post-acquisition transitions
What We're Looking For- 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably with U.S.-based clients or entities
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar accounting platforms
- Experience working with multi-entity structures, consolidations, or financial integrations is a plus
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines across business units
- Strong organizational skills and comfort with spreadsheets, reconciliations, and data validation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
- Based in South Africa, with availability for some U.S. time zone overlap
Bonus Points- Experience supporting private equity, M&A, or due diligence processes
- Familiarity with tools like Dext, Bill.com, Gusto, or Float
- Understanding of accrual-based accounting and intercompany transactions
- Ability to suggest process improvements and automation opportunities
