Job description

Hire Resolve is working with a reputable solar energy company based in Somerset West. Our client is in the renewable energy sector and is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join their dynamic finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys a hands-on team, and is passionate about accuracy in financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Full bookkeeping function using Xero, including:
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Debtors and creditors
    • Invoicing and payment allocations
    • Monthly journals and VAT submissions
  • Client liaison:
    • Calling and following up on outstanding payments
    • Handling customer account queries professionally and timeously
  • Supplier management:
    • Recording and reconciling supplier invoices
    • Managing supplier contracts via Zoho
  • Collaboration with CFO on monthly and project-specific reporting
  • Assist in financial project tracking using Zoho Projects and Simpro (training will be provided)
  • Support year-end audit preparations and financial reviews

Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven bookkeeping experience
  • Proficient in Xero (or similar accounting systems)
  • Experience with Zoho and/or Simpro beneficial but not essential (training will be provided)
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (must be confident communicating with clients in both languages)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - must be comfortable speaking to clients on the phone regarding outstanding accounts
  • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively with the CFO and broader finance team
  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability
  • Industry background in engineering, energy, construction, or technical services is advantageous, but not essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Bookkeeping preferred
