Job summary

A leading financial services firm in Roodepoort is looking for a Bookkeeper to manage financial records and ensure compliance with policies. The ideal candidate must have a National Diploma in Bookkeeping, experience in general accounting, and advanced Excel skills. Responsibilities include preparing bank reconciliations and supporting the Finance Team. This full-time position requires 5-8 years of bookkeeping experience and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years experience as a Bookkeeper.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Clear Criminal Record.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Should reside in the West Rand or surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Finance Team with billing recons and general office queries.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and submitting to Head Office.
  • Ensuring that all costs are captured in the relevant month/cost control.
  • Preparing and processing journals and assisting with month end processes.
  • Providing financial assistance and support to operational staff.

Overview

Position: Bookkeeper

The above position is vacant at the Head Office based in Helderkruin. The overall purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all Financial Policies and Procedures. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and providing support to the Finance Department as well as the Group.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • National Diploma in Bookkeeping.
  • Tertiary CA or Financial Degree will be advantageous
  • 5-8 years experience as a Bookkeeper.
  • In depth knowledge of the General Accounting.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Billing Experience.
  • Ability to work weekends and travel when required.
  • Experience in the security or service-related industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills.
  • Numerical accuracy and high methodical working methods are required.
  • Strong planning leadership and organisational skills as well as good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of SAP is a requirement.
  • Clear Criminal Record.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Should reside in the West Rand or surrounding areas.
Key Performance Areas
  1. Assisting the Finance Team with billing recons memos account payable general office and admin queries when requested.
  2. Preparing and clearing of bank reconciliation and submitting to Head Office.
  3. Preparing and submitting accruals and reversals monthly.
  4. Ensuring that all costs are captured in the relevant month / cost control.
  5. Preparing and processing journals and assisting with month end processes.
  6. Assisting with Income Statement reviews on a regular basis to ensure that capturing has been done correctly and timeously.
  7. Scrutinizing of all GL accounts to ensure the correctness thereof.
  8. Providing financial assistance and support to operational staff assistance.
  9. Assisting the Finance Manager with weekly reports due to Head Office i.e. (Transport Payroll Claims Price Increases Credit Control etc.)
  10. Ensuring that all Policies and Procedures are always followed for audit purposes.
  11. Supervising and monitoring cashbook petty cash and creditors functions.
