Job description

Gold City Offshoring (GCO) has teamed up with a renowned US-based advisory firm offering top-notch outsourced financial services across various industries. Our client is dedicated to providing essential financial expertise to empower their clients and is looking for a talented Bookkeeper to join their dynamic remote team in South Africa.

  • Contract Period : 12 months annual renewable contract.
  • Location : Fully Remote.
  • Working Hours : Structured to fit lifestyle with a 6 hour overlap with New York. Start from 14 : 00 - 20 : 00 SA Time, with the flexibility to complete the rest of the working day as best suited for the individual.

Your Role as a Bookkeeper :

  • Transaction Recording : Accurately record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Journal Entries : Prepare and post journal entries to ensure proper documentation and classification of transactions.
  • General Ledger Maintenance : Maintain and update the general ledger by posting entries and ensuring all records are accurate.
  • Trial Balance : Prepare and review trial balances to ensure that debits and credits are balanced.
  • Basic Financial Reports : Generate and review basic financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable : Manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) to ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Bank Reconciliation : Reconcile bank statements with financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Expense Tracking : Monitor and record expenses to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting : Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate financial data and insights.
  • Bring Books to Trial Balance (TB) : Ensure books are up-to-date and balanced, bringing them to trial balance status.

Requirements :

  • BCom in Accounting or similar.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in bookkeeping / accounting within a practice / firm environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
