About The Role

The Bookkeeper is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and reconciliations. This role supports the finance function through daily bookkeeping tasks, maintaining up-to-date financial records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports..

Key Responsibilities

  • Process daily payments and refunds, including both local and international transactions.
  • Monitor and manage bank accounts to ensure accurate recording of inflows and outflows.
  • Perform accounts payable reconciliations and ensure all supplier payments are up to date.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile loan accounts and ensure entries are correctly captured.
  • Prepare and post journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Assist with international market cost allocations, invoicing, and tracking related payments.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure all entries are accurate and complete.
  • Support the accounting team with accounting to trial balance (TB), including assisting with closing processes.
  • Respond to audit queries and provide required documentation and explanations.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail, time management, and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (NQF level 5 or higher preferred)
