Job description

Boilermaker (Underground) required in Newcastle.

An opportunity for experienced Underground Boilermakers is available for fixed-term contract work based at a coal mining operation in Newcastle.

You’ll be required to perform maintenance and fabrication on mining equipment, such as buckets, scoops, conveyors and hydraulic components in both day and night shifts.

Type: Limited Duration Contract (3 – 6 months, with opportunity to go permanent).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and repair of flameproof and non-flameproof underground mining equipment.
• Fabrication and welding of mining equipment: buckets, chutes, hoppers, and structural steelwork.
• Flameproof equipment installation, inspection and repair.
• Ensure MHSA compliance and site safety protocols are upheld.
• Gas testing procedures and area safety assessments.
• Daily reports, tool control, and compliance logs.

Requirements:

• Trade Tested Boilermaker (Mining / Underground) – Section 13/26D
• Min 3–4 years Colliery / Coal Mine experience – essential
• Flameproofing (Attach certificate with application)
• Gas Testing (Attach certificate with application)
• Exp with conveyor belts, underground mechanised / conventional sections, underground machines JAE Scoops, Coal Cutter, Roof Bolters etc
• Grade 12 / N3 Certificate
• Prepared to work shifts (Day & Night) and overtime
• Code B Driver’s License
• Medically fit for underground entry
