Job summary

Profile Personnel is seeking an experienced Boiler House Supervisor to lead the safe and efficient operation of the Boiler House in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in South Africa. The role requires hands-on leadership with expertise in coal-fired chain grate boilers and biomass systems, and a proven supervisory track record.

The successful candidate will manage shift coverage, ensure adherence to safety standards, and drive continuous improvement while mentoring the Boiler House team.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • 3–5 years' experience in a similar Boiler House supervisory role.
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining coal-fired chain grate boilers with operating pressures exceeding 20 bar.
  • Essential experience operating and maintaining biomass boilers.
  • Sound knowledge of boiler operations, pressure vessel preparation, and testing.
  • Basic computer literacy and good numerical ability.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.
  • Ability to work independently while leading a team effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and motivate the Boiler House team.
  • Operate and maintain coal-fired chain grate boilers and biomass boiler systems.
  • Ensure safe, efficient boiler operations in line with operational requirements.
  • Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and attend to equipment breakdowns.
  • Prepare pressure vessels for inspections and statutory testing.
  • Optimise equipment performance and resource utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Apply company policies, procedures, and disciplinary processes where required.
  • Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
