We’re looking for a Boiler and Turbine Specialist who will utilize their knowledge and experience to optimize the operation of Boilers (Recovery and Coal) as well as Turbines, mentoring and supporting the teams responsible for production and maintenance functions to ensure the units operate optimally in the mill.

As a Boiler and Turbine Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing critical performance parameters daily, addressing deviations from specifications, and maintaining a historical record of operating parameters to monitor for long-term deviations.
  • Optimizing the performance of turbine generators and boilers, and producing monthly performance reports.
  • Addressing operating parameters out of specification through technical adjustments.
  • Managing and developing long-term strategies for boiler life extension.
  • Reviewing and inspecting operating units to ensure efficient functionality and addressing potential risks to uninterrupted operation.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and coordinating trial initiatives.
  • Supporting mills during annual shutdowns and boiler maintenance, including managing service level agreements with suppliers.
  • Mentoring and guiding employees in understanding the operating principles of boiler and turbine units.
  • Assisting with problem-solving and corrective actions, including team-based problem solving.
  • Developing best operating practices for boiler and component optimization for development and sustainability.
  • Staying updated on international standards and trends to evaluate the latest technology continually.

What are we looking for?

  • BSc in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is advantageous; relevant qualifications will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of process engineering experience related to combustion, with at least 5 years in energy networks, turbines, boilers, or environmental management.
  • Strong understanding of boiler maintenance and operational experience to optimize boiler efficiency.
