This role is responsible for supporting the Building Management Systems team to ensure systems are configured, operated, and managed to meet client SLAs through business intelligence and accurate reporting from Data Centre systems.


Job Description


These critical systems ensure accurate reporting on SLA parameters (power, environmental, non-standard MSA parameters). The BMS System Administrator (BMS Technician) ensures Data Centre Systems (Netbotz, DCE, EBO, PME) are properly set up, tested, and configured for valid, accurate data.


Objectives


  1. Main Functions of the Job
  • Manage working methods to achieve all client SLAs.
  • Configure and manage Data Centre monitoring systems.
  • Map transformers and power monitoring devices to internal systems.
  • Verify data accuracy and prevent duplication.
  • Set up virtual sensors on BMS Systems.
  • Enhance systems and automate reporting.
  • Produce PME kWh and SLA reports from EBO.
  • Handle month-end billing and power monitoring.
  • Log tickets for offline devices or unusual data readings.
  • Configure CT power monitoring and alarms.
  • Update PME with new client and cabinet info.
  • Investigate tickets related to CT power issues with Data Centre Technicians.
  • Coordinate with DCS teams for ticket resolution.
  • Participate in monthly power capacity meetings.
  • Improve processes and introduce automation for simplification.
  • Perform daily system checks for device status and alarms.
  • Ensure firmware is up-to-date on monitoring devices.
  • Support firmware testing before deployment in new builds or expansions.
  • Participate in new data centre projects.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for incidents/outages.
  • Respond promptly to critical situations.
  • Manage third-party vendors for hardware and software support.
  • Engage in network, security, and operational requests.
  • Review reports for outliers and potential issues within 24 hours.
  • Report and monitor environmental threshold breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and meet operational agreements.
  • Implement departmental policies and work instructions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric/Grade 12 essential

  • Schneider Ecostruxure Building Operation (EBO) System knowledge beneficial
  • Schneider Power Monitoring Expert (PME) System knowledge beneficial
