Job Purpose

To assist in the development of strategic solutions and blueprints to solve stated business challenges with the BizDevOps team. Assist business customers with the delivery of their applications via an automated pipeline to be first to market with their ideas.

Job Responsibilities

1. Collaborate within functional areas and across teams to create Software Deployment Pipelines
2. Build out and administer the full lifecycle of selected BizDevOps technologies under the guidance of a DevOps Lead
3. Work with the DevOps Lead to design, develop, test, and evaluate systems and infrastructure (preferably Infrastructure as Code)
4. Maintain the created Deployment pipelines where applicable
5. Assist in creating DevOps patterns and practices for development teams under a DevOps Lead
6. Manage concurrent objectives and prioritize effectively within a team
7. Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards
8. Foster innovation within the BizDevOps team for continuous improvement
9. Support the achievement of business strategy objectives and values
10. Stay updated on developments in the field of expertise
11. Ensure personal growth and effectiveness in roles and responsibilities
12. Contribute to Nedbank's culture-building initiatives (e.g., staff surveys)
13. Participate in and support corporate responsibility initiatives
14. Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems through agile thinking

Additional Responsibilities

• Build and manage the full lifecycle of BizDevOps technologies
• Collaborate with the Green Engineering team on system design, development, testing, and evaluation (Infrastructure as Code)
• Maintain deployment pipelines
• Ensure ongoing personal growth and effectiveness
• Stay informed on field developments
• Collaborate across teams to design and implement features
• Stay updated on Software Engineering, Cloud, Sustainability, and Sustainable IT developments

People Specification

Essential Qualifications NQF Level

• Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees
• Degree in computer science, math, software engineering, or equivalent technical experience
• BSc in Computer Science, BTech, or relevant qualifications
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure) preferred
• Certifications such as DevOps, LPI, RHCE, RHCA, MCSE, MCSD, CSM, MOCA, JPSC, JAOCP, JP, or other technical certifications are advantageous

Minimum Experience Level

• 2 years as a Software Developer (Web, Windows Services, Mobile, Application, Backend, Cloud Computing)
• 2 years as a Systems Administrator on multiple platforms, including cloud deployment
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS
• Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet)
• Experience with Bash and/or PowerShell scripting

Technical / Professional Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of Java Development (J2EE, Spring Boot)
• Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet)
• Basic scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell)
• Planning and organizational skills
