Job description

Are you technically curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about BIM systems and digital design workflows? SAOTA is seeking a Junior BIM Assistant to support the development and implementation of BIM workflows across our studio, provide frontline helpdesk assistance and help advance our Revit systems and standards.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting others, and continuously improving digital tools and workflows in a fast-paced, high-performance design environment.

Please note - Only candidates currently residing in Cape Town, South Africa, will be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Helpdesk Support: Triage and respond to Revit helpdesk tickets, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues for project teams.

  • Revit Standards & Systems: Assist with maintaining Revit office standards, developing Revit systems, and contributing to system documentation and optimisation.

  • Training & Upskilling: Help create training materials, deliver tutorials, and contribute to the ongoing upskilling of staff in BIM workflows and Revit best practices.

  • Content Development: Generate and optimise Revit content, including geometry adapted for CGI use.

  • Research & Monitoring: Conduct in-depth research into plugins and new workflows, engage with developers on bugs and feature updates, and monitor hardware/software needs.

  • Documentation: Create and manage internal Revit procedures, best-practice documents, and system guidelines.

  • Ensure staff have access to up-to-date BIM tools and training resources

  • Contribute to smoother workflows and reduced technical bottlenecks

Bonus Points (Advantageous Experience)
  • Experience with 3D modelling for CGI or visualisation workflows

  • Knowledge of Twinmotion, Lumion, and Enscape

  • Experience with Fusion 360 or advanced geometry modelling

  • Ability to visualise and troubleshoot potential system pitfalls

  • Familiarity with parametric family creation and advanced Revit modelling
