About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bid Manager to lead strategic sales and tender campaigns within our Programmes environment. You will manage the full bid lifecycle from the initial Request for Proposal (RFP) through to contract signature, ensuring competitive, compliant, and winning submissions. Operating within the HENSOLDT GEW governance framework, you will drive the "Win the Contract" process, aligning bids with customer requirements and strategic business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Com Business Administration / Business Administration Degree / B.Com Marketing Manager / B.Eng or BSc Degree / Project Management Qualification (where supplemented by technical / commercial experience)
  • Proven track record in managing complex bids/tenders in a technical or defence industry environment.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in bid/tender management or a related field.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced bid and tender process management.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen (cost modelling, risk assessment).
  • Project scheduling, implementation planning, and profitability analysis.
  • Proposal preparation and document coordination.
  • Risk and opportunity management.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, cash flow models), MS Project, SharePoint, ERP (Qmuzik, SAP) & CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with legal, compliance, and export control requirements in contracting environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full bid lifecycle from qualification to submission and contract award.
  • Develop winning strategies in collaboration with Sales, Engineering, and Executive stakeholders.
  • Interpret and translate complex customer requirements into compliant, value-adding solutions.
  • Prepare delivery plans, cost/resource estimates, risk registers, and business case documentation.
  • Ensure governance compliance and facilitate tender phase reviews (GO/NO GO, BID/NO BID, RELEASE).
  • Develop and review project cost estimates, pricing models, and profitability assessments.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to finalise commercial offers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for bid-related customer communication.
  • Support post-submission debriefs, lessons learned, and contract handover processes.
