Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Bid Manager to lead and manage the bid process from start to finish. This pivotal role involves creating, coordinating, and submitting compelling proposals that secure new business and renew existing contracts. You will play a key part in shaping the organisation's growth strategy while maintaining high-quality standards across all submissions.

Based in our Cape Town office, this role reports to the Head of Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Proposal & Bid Management

  • Oversee the full bid lifecycle, from planning to submission.
  • Research, draft, edit, and review high-quality bid proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Maintain a repository of bid documents and ensure compliance with deadlines.

2. Client Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with Business Development, International, and Compliance teams to strengthen client relationships.
  • Engage directly with clients to clarify requirements, address questions, and support bid presentations.

3. Strategic Development

  • Design and implement effective bid strategies to maximise win rates.
  • Educate internal teams on best practices for creating successful proposals.

4. Market Analysis

  • Monitor competitors, industry trends, and new bid opportunities, focusing on the US and Canadian markets.
  • Conduct in-depth competitor analysis to improve submission quality.

5. Content Development

  • Create branded, client-focused pitch materials while ensuring consistency in tone, style, and messaging.

6. Accreditation & Compliance

  • Manage applications for accreditations and certifications across different markets.

7. Technology & Tools

  • Evaluate and recommend software solutions to enhance bid management processes, ensuring alignment with budget constraints.

8. Performance Tracking & Optimisation

  • Track and analyse bid outcomes to refine strategies and improve future submissions.

9. Legal & Risk Management

  • Review Terms of Business to identify and mitigate potential risks.

10. Collaboration

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, and Solicitation Departments, ensuring technical and brand alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2–3 years of Bid Management experience, ideally within the healthcare sector.
  • APMP Desired, not required
  • Proven track record of working with US/Canadian markets is highly desirable.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in bid management software and tools is a plus.
