BI Developer

Our well-established client in the pharmaceutical industry has a vacancy available for a BI Developer based in Parktown.

Main Purpose of Job:

The BI Developer is responsible for end-to-end BI development, support, monitoring, analysis and maintenance within the BI and Data Warehouse environment/s, as well as general BI functions to assist the BI team in day-to-day operations and ad hoc tasks when required.

Key Performance Areas (Core, essential responsibilities – outputs of the position)

1. Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and other relevant BI tools.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement effective BI solutions.
3. Provide day-to-day support for existing BI solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
4. Design and optimize SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to extract, transform, and load data.
5. Create and maintain documentation related to BI processes, data models, and reports.
6. Participate in the full software development life cycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. MS BI certification advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

1. Minimum 2 years proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Power BI.
2. Experience with data modelling and designing efficient and scalable data warehouses.
3. Knowledge of best practices in BI development and data visualization.
4. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.

SKILLS/PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES

1. Experience with ETL processes and tools.
2. Strong SQL skills and proficiency in developing complex queries, views, and stored procedures.
3. Familiarity with other BI tools and technologies such as PowerBI, or similar.
4. PHP & MySQL (advantageous).
5. Experience with cloud technologies.
