  • We are looking for a Betting Clerk based in George, Western Cape. Do you have what it takes to be our newest Purple Star?
  • The successful candidate will manage branch operations, including taking customer bets, increasing stakes, managing cash, processing payouts, providing customer service, and ensuring compliance.

A Bonus To Have

  • Diploma/Degree (advantageous)
  • 1-2 Years of experience in the gambling industry (advantageous)

Responsibilities

Branch Growth

  • Update betting boards promptly.
  • Maintain memos, card changes, results, and scratches during the day.
  • Know all betting rules, odds, and payouts.
  • Be aware of confirmation limits; consult the BSC and Events Office before laying bets over the limit.
  • Inform team leaders or the betting manager of large bets that do not require confirmation.

Sales Administration

  • Manage cash according to procedures, minimizing risks of theft or fraud.
  • Remain alert to attempts at fraud.

Cash Management

  • Ensure accurate float at shift start.
  • Conduct interim checks with the team leader.
  • Report and settle shortages immediately, with shortages under R250 paid back on the same day.
  • Record shortages and overs on the reconciliation.

Branch Appearance

  • Keep the branch neat and tidy.
  • Maintain workstations in good condition.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.

Customer Service

  • Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous service.
  • Address complaints proactively and provide positive feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with regular customers.
  • Promote a customer-centric culture with a "service with a smile" attitude.

Compliance

  • Follow internal control policies and ethics.
  • Report fraudulent activities.
  • Wear the correct Hollywood uniform when on duty.
  • No credit bets or bets taken outside duty hours or without proper attire.
  • Avoid being behind the terminal when off duty and do not use the payout machine during duty.
