Overview

A vacancy exists for a Bed Bookings Clerk, based at Life Roseacres Hospital reporting to Dollie Boshof, the Admissions Supervisor. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the Admissions Department and become part of a professional team that continuously strives for the highest standards of quality in Life Healthcare. Function Administration Facility Life Roseacres Hospital Position Bed Bookings Clerk Introduction

Responsibilities
  • Allocate beds for theatre cases and bookings from doctor’s rooms.
  • Make follow up on bed allocations.
  • Adhere to all admissions and related protocols.
  • Ensure business processes are in line with patient services protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with our audit daily.
  • Responsible for accurate recording of all pre admissions.
  • Receiving and handling cash according to company cash management protocols.
  • Provide a prompt, courteous service to all patients, visitors, wards, doctors, colleagues and other hospitals.
  • Drive utilisation of the online theatre booking platform.
  • Mitigate the risk of potential bad debts.
  • Active risk management by means of obtaining prosthetic limits, co-payments, etc.
  • Positive identification of all patients.
  • Determination of waiting periods if any.
  • Relieve in Admissions Department from time to time and work flexible work hours when needed.
  • Be able to self-manage work load, but also work effectively in a team environment.
  • Collection of co-payments, private fees when applicable as well as related documents.
  • High standard of completion of documentation.
  • Telephone answering duties as per LHC policies.
  • Candidate needs to be flexible with regards to working hours including night duty, weekends, public holidays and overtime.
Requirements
  • Grade 12/ NQF4
  • Experience within a healthcare environment including people management and customer service experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of admissions procedures
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
  • Basic understanding of financial principles
  • Computer proficiency (comprehensive knowledge of Impilo or relevant software system)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in dealing with customers
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminology will be advantageous; teamwork essential
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • The position requires an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised individual
