VACANCY: Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub is an innovative hub based in Mahikeng, aimed at developing new business pipelines, providing strategic economic infrastructure to unlock economic growth in the North West Province while fostering & promoting 4IR, Technology, Incubation, Training, Innovation & Entrepreneurship development. MDIHub prides itself as the first provincial innovation hub, established to spur the growth of new industries, to drive the 4th Industrial Revolution, Digitalization, and industrialization of the North West Province economy. MDIHub is a cluster of Technology, Digital media, and 4IR companies. MDIHub aims to foster an atmosphere of creativity and support. JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Business Development Officer: Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub

REPORTING TO: CEO

SALARY: 220,000.00 - 280,000.00

CONTRACT TERMS: 2 years

DIVISION: Incubator Programme

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The BDO will ensure the successful delivery of incubation services at Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub and in particular, ensure effective operation and use of Incubator facilities and achievement of enterprise development goals and objectives; establish and manage relationships with both public and private sector stakeholders, public sector entities, colleges, universities, and research institutions. The BDO will work intimately with entrepreneurs and start-up companies of MDIHub incubation programme; with the goal of ensuring effective incubation of innovative technology-based ideas, and growth of sustainable businesses. The role also requires the candidate to be a good networker to ensure an evergreen incubation pipeline of ideas whose incubation will result in sustainable high growth companies with job creation opportunities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  1. Work with SMMEs/Incubatees to identify and evaluate new markets and target clients.
  2. Work with SMMEs/Incubatees to develop and implement strategies.
  3. Encourage an environment of innovative thinking and commercialization of innovative ideas.
  4. Identify and evaluate specific new profitable business opportunities.
  5. Assist in achieving sales targets of the SMMEs/Incubatees.
  6. Initiate and complete proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.
  7. Work with internal teams to deliver outstanding presentations to capture profitable business opportunities.
  8. Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with existing and potential stakeholders.
  9. Plan, implement, and manage the enterprise development portfolio's projects, programs, products, and services.
  10. Encourage the SMMEs/Incubatees to incorporate innovative methods into their enterprises.
  11. Offer coaching and mentoring to SMMEs/Incubatees.
  12. Work independently and under pressure.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • 3-year Degree in Business Management (development will be added as an advantage).

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven track record of developing new businesses.
  • Strong in client connection and client services.
  • Strong responsibility, self-motivated, able to work under high pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience in an innovation and technology-driven industry or organization.
  • Experience in assessing viability and sustainability of small businesses.
  • In-depth understanding of SMME and incubation industry.
  • Advanced Computer literacy - MS Office and MS Projects.
  • Valid South African Driver's Licence.
  • Experience starting, owning, operating, and/or managing a small business.
