Diversity, Equity & Compliance Co-ordinator / Specialist

Location: Midrand

Job Type: Full-time

Reports To: General Manager Safety

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Employment Equity and BBBEE Specialist / Coordinator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and implementing the Employment Equity (EE) and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) initiatives within our organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in compliance, reporting, and strategy development related to employment equity and BBBEE, ensuring that the company meets its legal obligations while promoting diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Employment Equity Management:
  • Coordinate and implement the company's Employment Equity plan in alignment with the Employment Equity Act.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Employment Equity requirements.
  • Develop and manage action plans to address employment equity targets and goals.
  • Provide guidance on EE policy, procedures, and best practices to all levels of staff and management.
  • Maintain and update EE compliance files.
  • Facilitate the formation and meetings of the Employment Equity Committee, ensuring collaboration across all departments.
  • Prepare and submit Employment Equity reports to the Department of Employment and Labour within deadlines.
  • Continuously review and improve EE processes through regular reviews and administrative updates.
  • EE & BBBEE Strategy & Data Management:
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's BBBEE strategy in line with the latest codes and requirements.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the B-BBEE rating across all scorecard elements.
    • Monitor and track BBBEE scorecard performance and prepare annual reports.
    • Guide management on skills development strategies.
    • Manage external and internal learnerships, and liaise with stakeholders and auditors.
    • Manage enterprise and supplier development programs and socio-economic initiatives.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping and prepare reports on BBBEE performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Training:
    • Work closely with senior management to align EE and BBBEE goals.
    • Provide training on EE and BBBEE principles to staff and management.
    • Maintain relationships with government bodies and industry associations.
  • Data Management & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records related to EE and BBBEE compliance.
    • Assist in report preparation for regulatory bodies and internal use.
    • Analyze data to support decision-making.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
    • Coordinate safety inspections, review reports, and implement corrective actions.
    • Organize safety training and meetings.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility:
    • Develop and oversee CSR strategies and community engagement programs.
    • Monitor and report on CSR initiatives, ensuring compliance and impact.
  • Other Duties: Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications & Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum 4 years' experience in EE and BBBEE compliance or related roles.
    • Deep knowledge of Employment Equity Act, BBBEE legislation, and compliance requirements.
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing EE and BBBEE strategies.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
