Job description

The ecoinvent Association is looking for an ambitious sustainability analyst with a passion for sustainability and data-driven business.

The successful candidate will work both independently and in teams, interacting with users and data providers of the ecoinvent database in the Batteries & Electronics sector.

You are open-minded and enjoy working in a diverse team committed to improving decision-making through high-quality environmental data worldwide.

Your responsibilities
  1. Provide technical support in various projects aimed at improving and developing the database, including:
  • Desk research tasks, deep-dives into manufacturing of battery/electronic products, and analysis for the sector manager;
  • Reviewing datasets in data provision projects;
  • Interacting with external stakeholders, such as data providers, to guide data preparation and submission;
  • Supporting communication efforts of ecoinvent and assisting database users;
  • Developing tools and models to enhance data creation within the sector.
Your experience
  • Degree in electronics/electrical engineering, electrochemistry, environmental engineering focused on electronics or batteries, or a related field;
  • Preferably at least one year of industry or research experience involving data manipulation, life cycle inventory modeling, and environmental impact assessments of batteries, electronic components, or data centers;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and end-of-life considerations for batteries and electronic components is a plus;
  • Experience with LCA methodology and ecoinvent data is advantageous;
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and basic programming skills, especially in Python;
  • Self-motivated, systematic, curious, with strong attention to detail;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Proactive, structured, organized, and enthusiastic about learning and innovation;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently;
  • Curious mind and quick learner in a diverse, international team.
