Overview
Job Purpose: The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and light food items while providing excellent customer service. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and smoothies.
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations when requested.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station, equipment, and seating area.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Handle cash and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system with accuracy.
- Monitor stock levels of coffee, supplies, and consumables, and report shortages to management.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing queries, concerns, or complaints in a professional manner.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Barista or in a customer-facing role (advantageous but not always required).
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment operation preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- A positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade 12 / High School Certificate.
- Barista training or certification (advantageous).
