Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or software certifications.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the installation and administration of IBM Spectrum Protect and Veeam Enterprise Backup Software.
• Implement and maintain backup retention policies in line with business requirements.
• Implement, maintain, and document recovery procedures aligned with DR policy.
• Monitor backups and perform health checks on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
• Resolve problems and perform fault finding.
• Ensure adherence to security standards.
• Test and evaluate new backup software and hardware features.
• Provide support and technical advice operationally and for projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or software certifications.
• A minimum of 5 years relevant Backup Engineer experience.

Skills

• IBM Spectrum Protect and Veeam Backup software.
• Network protocols (TCP/IP), Windows.
• Red Hat Linux and AIX Unix Server Systems.
• Technical Project Management.
• ITIL or similar service management principles.
• Familiarity with VMWare ESX is an advantage.
