Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a skilled Software Developer focusing on backend systems to join our client’s team. You will develop server-side logic for core products, collaborating with frontend developers and stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable software solutions.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of backend experience and proficiency in Java, Python, C#, or Go, with strong database and API design knowledge. Hybrid work offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of backend software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Java, Python, C#, or Go.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and API design principles.
• Experience with Git and common development frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code.
• Implement and manage robust database schemas and optimize performance.
• Develop and integrate with APIs for seamless communication between components.
• Write unit and integration tests for backend services.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software addressing performance and security issues.
