Business area and role

The Azure Engineer role is based within the CITSA Team (Corporate IT, Security, Audit) and directly reports to the IT Manager.

CITSA is a key contributor to the business and is responsible for all Corporate IT, Security & Audit services and infrastructure on-prem and in the cloud.

This is an internal function and service within Xceptor as a business.

Other teams in the business manage our software development, client support and Xceptor hosting (XaaS).

This role will contribute to our current objective of achieving our SOC2 accreditation and help mature CITSA's offering to the business.

You will help to re-design our Azure Network and improve our Azure security posture whilst reducing CVEs and assisting with clearing any new CVEs.

Additionally, you will contribute to our Microsoft Defender solutions by helping develop monitoring solutions, improving current configurations, and creating enhanced solutions.

We have other exciting projects and services that will expose you to emerging and mature market-leading solutions.

CITSA is a small team with two senior engineers based in the UK, and our support specialist is based in Cape Town.

The IT manager is based in the UK.

This role will be challenging but very rewarding, working with a dynamic team and creating solutions for the business.

Key Responsibilities

Designing Azure Solutions: Architecting and designing cloud and hybrid solutions on Azure that meet business requirements, functional and non-functional specifications, and align with the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework.

This includes designing compute, network, storage, monitoring, and security solutions.

Creating Architecture Frameworks: Developing and maintaining scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure on Azure for clients.

Networking Architecture: Designing and managing secure, scalable network solutions using Azure Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, VPNs, and ensuring connectivity across regions and hybrid environments.

Implementing Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring: Setting up monitoring solutions (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics) for proactive issue detection and resolution.

Selecting Appropriate Cloud Services: Choosing the most suitable Azure services and solutions to meet business goals and challenges.

Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks related to cloud infrastructure. Support our SOC2 initiative.

Mentor and support our Cape Town Support person.

Azure Cloud Services: 5-7 years' experience, Azure Cloud Accreditations (Desirable).
