Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aviation Safety Officer for our client’s Benoni operations center in Gauteng. You will develop, implement, and maintain the SMS, identify hazards, assess risks, and promote a strong safety culture across all levels.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in aviation safety or related field, CSP desirable, 5+ years of experience, and strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Aviation Management, Safety Management, or a related field.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an aviation safety role.
• Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations and safety management systems (SMS).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operational areas.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Monitor compliance with aviation regulations and standards.
• Promote and foster a positive safety culture within the organization.
• Prepare safety reports, statistics, and recommendations for management.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities on safety matters.
