Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Aviation Safety Officer based in Rustenburg to enhance safety management systems across all aviation activities. You will implement policies, conduct risk assessments and lead safety initiatives to uphold regulatory compliance and foster a strong safety culture.

You will develop and deliver safety training, monitor performance metrics, and provide regular reports to management and regulators, acting as the main liaison with authorities and auditors

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of aviation safety management or related regulatory roles.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19 and SA-CAA regulations.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analysis and investigations.
• Proven leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant aviation safety qualifications or certifications.

About the Role

You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and leading safety initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) in line with ICAO and local regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification across all operational areas.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, determining root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff to promote a strong safety culture.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Act as a primary point of contact for safety-related matters and liaise with aviation authorities and external auditors.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety management, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, SA-CAA regulations, and Safety Management Systems principles.
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments , hazard analysis, and incident investigations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant aviation safety qualifications or certifications (e.g., Safety Management Systems training).
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a demanding operational environment in Rustenburg .
