The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the safety management system (SMS) and compliance programs. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

• Oversee compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, including those set forth by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
• Investigate incidents and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization through training, communication, and engagement initiatives.
• Manage the company's safety assurance processes, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, providing necessary documentation and responses.
• Develop and deliver safety and compliance training programs for all relevant personnel.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation safety regulations and industry trends.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management on safety performance and compliance status.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in aviation safety management, regulatory compliance, or a related field, preferably with an airline or MRO.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk management principles.
• In-depth understanding of aviation legislation and standards, particularly SACAA regulations.
• Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in aviation management, safety science, or a related discipline.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and reporting tools.
• Experience in audit and inspection processes.
