AUTOMOTIVE PETROL QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN


MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:


Must be an Automotive Petrol Qualified Technician – preferably in the following brands: Citroen, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Abarth.


MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish parts required for service or repairs and ensure correct parts are ordered.
  2. Report any additional work required to the foreman promptly.
  3. Obtain authorization before performing additional work.
  4. Get approval prior to fitting parts costing more than approximately R250.00.
  5. Seek technical information from the Foreman on complex jobs.
  6. Follow strictly the technical specifications provided by manufacturers.
  7. Perform duties according to manufacturer’s standards.
  8. Adhere to workshop policies and procedures.
  9. Write concise descriptions of all work performed, including causes and corrections, on the back of the job card.
  10. Place all old parts in a plastic bag in the vehicle’s boot, except for warranty work where old parts must be tagged and returned to the control tower.
  11. Record all oils and consumables used on the job card.
  12. Keep the vehicle clean, using seat and fender covers as needed.
  13. Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work area.
  14. Record work time accurately and promptly after work completion.
  15. Report faulty or broken equipment to the Foreman.
  16. Use special tools and equipment carefully.
  17. Own a complete set of hand tools as per the M.I.F. list and keep them in good condition.
  18. Repair vehicles according to specifications and within the flat rate time.
  19. Supervise and mentor apprentices/learners, ensuring they acquire necessary skills, and monitor their work.
  20. Maintain a neat appearance.
  21. Build and sustain good relationships with workshop staff.
  22. Ensure customer vehicles are not used for personal purposes.
  23. Do not tamper with accessories like cigarette lighters and radios in customer vehicles.
  24. Do not remove private property from customer vehicles.
  25. Keep removed components, parts, and accessories organized, safely stored, and recorded for proper recognition and re-assembly.
  26. Avoid damaging components once removed, beyond pre-quoted damages.
  27. Possess and maintain the necessary tools for your trade, including any special tools provided by management, and sign them out when used.
