Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative Automotive Performance Engineer to join its R&D cohort in Mossel Bay. The role focuses on enhancing vehicle performance through engine, chassis, and aerodynamic refinements, using advanced tools and data-driven analysis.

You will develop strategies, conduct both virtual and physical testing, and collaborate with design teams to achieve impressive power, efficiency, and durability outcomes in a coastal, cross-disciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in automotive performance engineering, including engine tuning, chassis dynamics, or aerodynamics.
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and post-processing of test data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail in performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement performance enhancement strategies for vehicle powertrains and chassis systems.
• Conduct rigorous testing, both virtual and physical, to evaluate performance parameters and identify areas for improvement.
• Analyze test data using advanced simulation and modeling software to optimize vehicle dynamics and efficiency.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure performance goals are met during vehicle development.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automotive technology and propose innovative solutions for performance gains in Mossel Bay.
