Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer for a contract role in East London. You will design, develop, and test advanced electrical and electronic systems for next-generation vehicles, including power distribution, sensor integration, and in-vehicle networking.

You will work on complex projects, collaborating with mechanical, software, and supplier teams, with a hybrid work model allowing on-site and remote work to meet project milestones.

Our client, a pioneering automotive technology firm with operations in East London , is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer for a contract position. This role will involve the design, development, and testing of advanced electrical and electronic systems for next-generation vehicles. You will work on complex projects, contributing to innovative solutions in areas such as power distribution, sensor integration, and in-vehicle networking. The position offers a hybrid work model, combining on-site collaboration at our East London facility with remote work capabilities, providing flexibility while ensuring project milestones are met. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automotive electrical system architectures.
• Specify and select electrical components, connectors, and wiring harnesses.
• Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic using CAD tools (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Integrate electrical systems with mechanical and software components.
• Develop and execute test plans for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and electronic system issues during development and validation phases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and suppliers.
• Conduct feasibility studies and performance analyses for new electrical system designs.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Stay abreast of emerging automotive electrical technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in automotive electrical system design and development.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software for schematic generation and layout.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical components, power electronics, and embedded systems.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Experience with system validation and testing methodologies, including EMC testing.
• Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote tasks.
• Experience with AUTOSAR architecture is a plus.
