Placements24 is seeking an experienced Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role focuses on design, integration, and validation of electrical/electronic systems within vehicles, including power distribution, sensor integration, lighting, and vehicle networking.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable electrical systems and contribute to cutting-edge automotive projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (required).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive electrical design and development.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools and simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of automotive networking protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical distribution systems including wiring harnesses and power management.
• Specify and integrate ECUs, sensors, actuators, and other electrical components.
• Maintain electrical schematics, block diagrams, and harness routing documentation.
• Perform electrical simulations and analysis (power, signal integrity, EMC).
• Collaborate with mechanical and software teams for seamless integration.
• Develop and execute test plans for components and vehicle-level validation.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during development and production phases.
• Stay updated on automotive electrical technologies, standards, and regulations.
• Support manufacturing in validation on production lines.

• Develop and execute test plans for electrical components and systems, including bench testing and vehicle-level validation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues during development, validation, and production phases.
• Stay updated on the latest automotive electrical technologies, standards, and regulations.
• Support the manufacturing team in the implementation and validation of electrical systems on the production line.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive electrical systems design and development.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., VeSys, Capital, E3.series) and simulation software.
• Strong knowledge of automotive networking protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
• Understanding of power electronics, battery management systems, and charging technologies.
• Experience with automotive lighting systems, sensors, and actuators.
• Familiarity with automotive EMC/EMI requirements and testing procedures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
