Job summary

Select Motor Recruitment in South Africa is seeking a dedicated wheel spray-painter to prepare rims, mix paints, and operate curing ovens for a high-quality finish. You will inspect rims, perform touch-ups, and ensure clean, compliant workstations while meeting production targets.

Experience in automotive painting or wheel refurbishment is essential, with a strong eye for colour and finish. A team-oriented, reliable work ethic and good communication are required.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic work instructions.
• Basic numeracy skills with the ability to count accurately.
• Previous spray-painting experience is required.
• Ability to spray paint and achieve a consistent, quality finish.
• Experience in wheel refurbishment, automotive painting, panel beating or a similar environment is required.
• Strong attention to detail and a good eye for colour and finish.
• Reliable, hardworking and quality-focused.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Able to work to production targets and deadlines.
• Team player with a positive, hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare wheel rims for painting, ensuring surfaces are clean and free from dust and contaminants.
• Inspect unpainted rims to ensure surfaces are suitable for painting.
• Mix paint correctly to achieve the required colour and viscosity.
• Mount wheel rims securely onto holding racks in preparation for painting.
• Carry out spray painting and/or powder coating to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Place painted rims into the curing oven and select the correct curing programme.
• Complete any required finishing and polishing on wheel rims.
• Inspect finished rims for blemishes, imperfections or defects.
• Carry out touch-ups and corrective work where required.
• Maintain clean and organised paint areas and workstations.
• Ensure paint guns, filters and other equipment are cleaned and maintained properly.
• Meet required production volumes while maintaining quality standards.
• Follow all workplace, safety and quality procedures.
• Perform any additional reasonable duties as requested by the Supervisor/Manager
