Job description

Remuneration : R .00 – R .00 + Medical Aid + Provident FundPurpose Of The Job : Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations of a dealership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, overseeing internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning.

This role is key to ensuring the dealership's financial health and operational efficiency.Duties : Financial Management

Maintain the dealership's general ledger, ensuring accuracy of all financial transactions

Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports

Perform reconciliations for all key accounts, including bank, stock, vehicle funding, and manufacturer balances

Monitor and report on departmental financial performance (Sales, Service, Parts)

Manage month-end and year-end closing processes

Compliance & Audit

Ensure compliance with local tax laws, VAT, and regulatory reporting requirements

Liaise with external auditors and prepare required documentation

Maintain accurate records in accordance with accounting principles and dealership policies

Operational Support

Support budgeting and forecasting activities

Monitor vehicle and parts stock values, ensuring correct costing and margin analysis

Process and review payroll (if applicable) or coordinate with HR / payroll providers

Provide financial insight to department heads to support performance improvements

Team & Systems Oversight :

Supervise and support accounts assistants or clerks (where applicable)

Maintain and optimize the use of the dealership management system (e.g., CDK Drive, Kerridge)

Assist in improving financial procedures and systems for efficiency and control

Requirements :

3-5 years' related Accountant experience in the Automotive industry

Experience within a dealership accounting environment essential

Degree / Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field an advantage
